5.6 x 50R

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 5.6x50R cartridge was developed in Germany for use as a legal hunting round alongside the 5.6 x 50 Magnum. The two cartridges are dimensionally and ballistically identical in all respects, except that the Magnum cartridge is not rimmed.

Typically firing a 50-grain bullet at c.3,400 fps, this cartridge occupies a useful performance niche approximately halfway between the .222 Remington - 3,100 fps - and the 5.6 x 57 - 3,900 fps.
