48HOURS
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
48HOURS is a film-making competition held through major cities in New Zealand where teams must write, shoot, edit and score a 3 to 7 minute short film over a single 48 hour period (usually a weekend). It grew out of the 48 Hour Film Project, and had its first year in 2003.
The festival is organised by New Zealand Film Festival stalwart, Anthony "Ant" Timpson. Teams attend a launch ceremony at 7pm on the Friday night where they are given a randomly selected genre within which to base their film's theme. They are also given a number of compulsory features which must appear in the film. (e.g. A character, a prop, a line of dialogue etc.)
Teams must submit their finished film to the competition organisers by 7pm on the Sunday evening.
In 2006 it had 400 teams and over 5000 participants.
