I can supply some information about this Division, but I'm not sure where it ought to go.

"The East Lancashire Division was formed with the creation of the Territorial Army, and was formed of former volunteer units in their new incarnation. Headquarters were at Parsonage Gardens, Manchester.

Division composition in August 1914.

Divisional Troops.

The East Lancashire Company, Royal Engineers. Seymour Grove, Old Trafford. Army Service Corps, Hulme Barracks. R.A.M.C. Field Ambulance. Upper Chorlton Road, Manchester.

The Manchester Artillery. Hyde Road, Manchester. The Bolton Artillery, Silverwell Street, Bolton ??????Artillery? (Can someone add this unit?)

The division comprised three infantry brigades:

125th Brigade (Lancashire Fusiliers Brigade) Headquarters in Bury. 1/5th Battalion, the Lancashire Fusiliers Castle Armoury, Bury. Outlying detachments at Radcliffe and Heywood. 1/6th Battalion, the Lancashire Fusiliers Rochdale. Oulying detachmentsat Middleton and Todmorden (in Yorkshire!) 1/7th Battalion, the Lancashire Fusiliers Salford 1/8th Battalion, the Lancashire Fusiliers Salford

126th Brigade (East Lancashire Brigade) 1/4th Battalion, The East Lancashire Regiment 1/5th Battalion, The East Lancashire Regiment 1/9th Battalion, The Manchester Regiment Ashton-Under-Lyne 1/10th Battalion, The Manchester Regiment Oldham

127th Brigade (Manchester Brigade) 1/5th Battalion, The Manchester Regiment H.Q. Wigan. Outlying detachments at Atherton, Leigh, Haydock, and Swinton. (Known as the 'Administrative' Battalion!) 1/6th Battalion, The Manchester Regiment Stretford Road, Manchester. A 'labourers' battalion. 1/7th Battalion, The Manchester Regiment Burlington Street. Recruited largely from clerks. Refered to as the 'Suburban Battalion'! 1/8th (Ardwick) Battalion, The Manchester Regiment Ardwick Green, Manchester. The only unit to incorporate the name of their district into their title.

A Squadron, Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry Based upon a house in Whalley Range, Manchester! It was detached from the division when war broke out."--Train guard 18:08, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
