  • On a blue disc 2 ¼ inches (5.72cm) in diameter a white letter "A" with members 1/8 inch (.32cm) wide within a red circle 2 inches (5.08cm) in diameter and 3/16 inch (.48cm) in width.

  • The insignia was originally approved 20 Dec 1918 for the Third Army.
  • It was redesignated for the Third U. S. Army on 10 Nov 1960.
