Talk:3 Esdras

This is the same thing as 1 Esdras, the numbering system for Ezra/Esdras changed over time. Clinkophonist 17:40, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

So I organized them somewhat according to who had the oldest claim to the name (except Jerome has to cede 3 Esdras to the LXX name of 1 Esdras), leaving 3 Esdras to the Russians. And of course it's all sorted out in the Esdras article. Not everyone is going to be pleased but at least it's more consistent now, even if a bit Orthodox centric.

Also, since Russian Orthodoxy considers it canonical, it seems they should get priorit of the name.

203.32.87.174 02:37, 7 October 2006 (UTC) There seems to be some confusion with some people about what I did with 3 Esdras. Before 24 hours ago there was NO content under 3 Esdras, it just redirected to 1 Esdras. This was clearly insufficient since not everybody agrees on what 3 Esdras is. So I thought it would be a good idea that 3 Esdras referred to the Slavonic 3 Esdras which protestants call 2 Esdras, and the 2 Esdras article was a disambiguator. This idea met with resistance. Therefore 2 Esdras was reinstated to the Protestant usage with a few additions, and therefore my 3 Esdras edits WHICH WERE ALL MINE I reversed, and made it a disambiguator to 1 and 2 Esdras, since it is pointless to have two articles exactly the same.

Now somebody has come along and reinstated my edits of the last 24 hours. That doesn't make any sense. I made the changes, I'm reversing the changes. All changes in 3 Esdras were put into 2 Esdras.

Of course we need disambiguation. Why in heck would you arrogantly assume that if you type in "3 Esdras" you are really looking for 2 Esdras? Let the reader decide what they want to see. The last editor has outsmarted even himself, because 3 Esdras used to point at 1 Esdras, now he pointed it at 2 Esdras. He's preven the need for disambiguation by his own actions.
