38th Battalion, CEF

The 38th Battalion, CEF was a unit of the First World War Canadian Expeditionary Force.
Formed in Ottawa in November 1914 the battalion left Canada in August 1915. The unit served in Bermuda as a garrison force until May 1916 when it sailed for England. Joining the 12th Canadian Infantry Brigade of the 4th Canadian Division the battalion deployed to France in August 1916.
The battalion returned to Canada in June 1919 and the unit was demobilized in Ottawa. Nearly 4,000 officers and men served in the unit. Almost 800 members were killed and nearly 2,000 wounded.
