- March 31 - After divorcing his wife Minervina, Constantine marries Fausta, the daughter of the retired Emperor Maximian.
- Galerius unsuccessfully invades Italy and names Licinius as Augustus.
- Flavius Valerius Severus, charged by Galerius to defeat Maximian and Maxentius is defeated by the latter. Abandoned by his troops, he commits suicide.
