.gal is a proposed top-level domain for sites from Galicia, or related to this Spanish nation. The campaign was initiated following the successful introduction of .cat for the Catalan-speaking community. The .cat domain is officially reserved for those websites which "highlight Catalan language and culture". Although the main objective of the sponsor of this domain, Asociación PuntoGal, is to get in a more distant future a country code top-level domain, that would probably be .gz. Several companies and institutions are involved in this campaign, including the autonomous government, Xunta de Galicia.
