.585 Nyati
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The .585 Nyati is a shoulder-fired rifle cartridge. The .585 Nyati was first developed by Ross Seyfried by modifying the .577 Nitro case. The rim needs to be turned-down to fit the face of the bolt. It also needs a .416 Rigby type rim or similar belted magnum rim. Nyati (n-ya-te) means Cape Buffalo in many African languages. This ammunition is considered even more powerful than the .700 Nitro Express.
One must consider recoil when shooting a rifle like this. Most rifles chambered in this caliber weigh about 10 pounds vs. 35 pounds in a .50 BMG.
