"Billy"

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Billy" could be described as one of the most famous serial killers to appear in any horror movie. Appearing in the Black Christmas (1974 film), he is first seen in first-person view approaching and entering a sorority house through an attic window. Billy can be well remembered for his obscene phone calls that have made him one of the most notorious horror movie serial killers. A number of facts should be taken note of:

-Billy's phone calls are brief, lasting no more than approximately half a minute.

-All of Billy's phone calls are frightening sounding as well as bizarre at times, speaking quietly in a menacing tone before launching into rants of shouting and screaming, and making use of other incomprehendable sounds.

-Billy is known to speak in more than one voice over the phone, having used the voices appearing to be of a man, a woman, and a child, likely to be of his family members.

-Billy chooses to make his phone calls at random and not at a specific period of time.

-Whether the gender category of sorority house is the reason or not, Billy tends to select and harass female individuals, and in this case, make any of them his victims. For reasons unknown, if any, when one or more male individuals are present at the house, Billy seems to remain out of sight entirely. This is due to either Billy having some sort of stance against other males, or because it was the obvious thing to do.

It can be noted that Billy frequently mentions two different names, particularily "Billy" and "Agnes". At the climax of film when Jess encounters the killer upstairs, the killer whispers from the closet 'Agnes, it's me Billy.' This clearly can match the name Billy with the identity of the killer's first name. However the identity of 'Agnes' is never revealed. Judging by several of Billy's phone calls, it can be presumed that Agnes might have been a sibling of Billy, perhaps a younger sister, that Billy harmed in some way.
