[edit] GRIME AND 2STEP
Grime (UK HIP HOP) is a sub genre of 2Step, when u think of it all the grime MC's rap to 2step beats. I laughed so hard when that user said 2step sounded like House music.
To me 2step is fast paced and really aggressive (like all the grime music has aggresive beats ex:whee|Koyaanis Qatsi]]

- House music, which could also use a rewrite. Koyaanis Qatsi
It is not that different from other kinds of house except for the way the beat is measured. - umm, I disagree. What about the bassline and time-stretched/sped up vocals (often in a ragga style)? They are very typical for 2 Step. And there are finer points to consider, too - the R'n'B influence, emphasis on higher frequencies (pointed out by Simon Reynolds afairc), champagne-instead-of-E-culture, etc. regards, High on a tree 01:19, 6 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Dirty beats
The beats example looks wrong to me. The way I read it, it shows two beats fitted into a three beat bar which would be some kinda fcuked up two-step waltzing! Alternatively it's 2 and 2/3 'step' beats fitted to the standard 'house' 4 beat bar. Take another look and see what you reckon. Any musicians/DJs out there care to comment/change it?

[edit] Complete new entry
Hi all I decided to write a whole new article about 2step, as the old one was not satisfactory. I even added 2 basic groove examples with audio files. Please be aware, that English is not my mother tongue and the article might be grammatically flawed. Please feel free to make any corrections or improvements.
Thanks!

[edit] Minor Change
I removed Lethal Bizzle's "Pow" from the notable tracks section as this hasmore to do with grime than uk 2 step garage.
[edit] Notice
No mention of people like Creed, Sunship, Chunky, Killa Bee's, Sparks, Kie, Sticky. You have not mentioned tunes like Love Bug, Butters, Check One Two, Exorcist, Fly Bi, Go DJ, Gunman, Jackson Surprise (Sexy Cinderella), Destinies, RU Sleeping, Something In Your Eyes, Spin Spin Sugar, Sweet Like Chocolate.
Thanks!

[edit] Minor Change
@MattE: feel free to add the relevant tracks to the notable tracks section. my suggested list was by no means the ultimate collection of all garage hits, but more a selection of my personal favourites.
@all: I do not suggest to merge this article with the general "garage" article. This would be an imprecise summarisation of two distinct styles "(US) Garage" and UK Garage"
