The reason why Exburb is headed so rapidly towards deletion is because the article lacks sources that explain what an exburb is, as separate from and exurb. You’re right: I would imagine the Wikipedians currently voting on whether to keep or delete the exurb article do not have urban planning experience. That’s exactly why it’s so important to put reliable sources in the article. Even those editors who would like to defend the article have no means to do so, because you have offered no proof that you didn’t simply make the term up. Again, if you can cite reputable sources differentiating between an exurb and an exburb, it would go a long way toward keeping the article from being deleted. You have said repeatedly that this term is in wide use in this field; if this is so, finding a worthwhile source (or two, or three…) should not be difficult. That’s all you need to do in order to keep th(And, incidentally, insulting the education, background, expertise, etc. of participants in an AfD is never a good way of rallying support to your cause.) Hi. You may remember me from the above-referenced deletion debate. I'd like to lend you a few words that you might find helpful in this issue, and on Wikipedia in general.

You're absolutely correct that very few of us are experts in your field. Wikipedia draws a very diverse readership and editorship. Once upon a time, Wikipedia's predecessor tried to build an encyclopedia written entirely by experts. This crashed, burned, and evolved into Wikipedia as you see it today.

I try to defer to stated expertise in some areas, because knowledge is important, and I know I don't have standing to comment on all areas. And it pisses me off sometimes when someone makes an obvious error in judgment relating to a field that I am considered an expert in. But you very rarely accomplish much by hitting people over the head with how wrong or uninformed they are. Wikipedia is a *community*, and for better or worse, it operates by consensus.

You may not "win" this particular debate. I don't think you're doing yourself any favors with your current arguments. But I can pretty much guarantee you that, if the word you're evangelizing enters common parlance within a non-trivial field, someone *will* write an article about it. Once it's verifiably notable, we *welcome* your contributions on it. It just might not be ready yet.

I've given you the benefit of the doubt, and voted keep. If others don't, I hope you'll respect that for now, and know that your contributions continue to be welcome. You're also completely entitled to list this article at WP:DRV if it is deleted. In future conflicts involving only one other editor (which isn't the case here), you can always seek help at WP:3o.

But for now, please don't let process bug you. It's not pefect, but it works out in the end. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I hope we'll see more of them in the future, and know also that I'm at your disposal if you have any questions or uncertainties during your Wikipedia editing.
