John Reaves:

I tried to get in contact with you, but I am relatively unfamiliar with Wikipedia - or at least, editing and customs. My name is Emerson Spartz, and I am the webmaster of MuggleNet. Many of the claims made in the ND magazine article were out of context, some untrue, some made off the record, and others I simply would prefer not made public. I hope you respect my wishes on this matter and do not put them back up.

"Despite the large audience for the interview, Spartz was widely criticized and even ridiculed for his questions about Harry/Hermione shippers, whom he described as delusional."

This quote grossly misrepresents the situation as it played out in the online community, and I have removed it as I feel is disparages my reputation and character. The only other edit I have made is to add this line to my profile:

"Emerson is currently a sophomore business major at the University of Notre Dame."

I am re-adding this line to my bio, I believe it is a relevant fact.

Please email me at espartz@nd.edu if you have any questions or concerns.

[edit] Comment2

- I am confused. Why is Spartz himself, who would (rightly) seem to have an agenda against having the information he deleted from the page public, allowed to do this? Putting aside that it is admittedly a vanity edit, the sources he says are incorrect are not exactly tabloids: they're from a student article he was interviewed for at one of the top institutions in the US; the Washington Post and the Indianapolis Star. Unless all these reputable institutions are simultaneously wrong, and he has proof to back it up, the article as it was fell well within the regulations of providing credible sources for relevant information. The financial information is not deemed important, but his status as a sophomore at ND is? Why is he even spotlighted in this article? Other people own other Web sites and a vanity/bio area is considered excessive.

If he deems his schooling important, surely the same is true of the financial information that it clearly benefits him to remove - information that is much, much more credibly sourced than most other information on this page. If not, then surely he has proof to the contrary that he can provide, and then the Wiki community will, surely, graciously take that information down. How three separate journalistic publications using Spartz himself as a source came to get that information is not such a big mystery; now they were all wrong? Or is it simply convenient to hide how much money he makes on the site?

Please revert the article to maintain fairness standards.
