[edit] Your edits to American Sign Language
I reverted your edits because they destroyed several subheadings for subcategories under Linguistics. Please don't make such changes unless you understand where subheadings should go. Thank you. Ward3001 00:09, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mediation of The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter
A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by ward3001 (talk • contribs).
[edit] Deaf-mute
The issue isn't about use of just the word "mute"; it is "deaf-mute", an altogether different use of the term.
Regarding the parallel to the "N" word: please state why you consider it "unwarranted, unfounded". Is it because those who object to use of "deaf-mute" is a smaller minority that has not been able to publicize the word's offensiveness as widely as African-Americans have the "N" word? 50 years ago, would it have been appropriate to argue that African- Americans should not vehemently argue against use of the "N" word because it is just a word, because they shouldn't expect others "to reinvent the English language" because the large majority of the population used the word, or because the users of the word say "it's not being used hatefully"?
Would it be censorship for Wikipedia's users to condemn use of other terms disparaging to minorities?
Have other minorities who have publicly expressed their opposition to disparaging terminology been on a "soapbox"?
Would other minorities who change offensive words in Wikipedia be considered "disruptive"?
And the only section omitted in the Request for Mediation is "Additional issues to be mediated", which is reserved for you (or anyone else involved) to state issues.
For an example of how the issue of "deaf-mute" can be resolved by reasonable discussion, see the discussions on talk pages between Cop 633 and me regarding Babel. Ward3001 00:48, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
