User talk:218.186.9.2

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Attention:

This IP address, 218.186.9.2, is registered to Starhub (Singapore) and may be shared by multiple users. Comments left on this page may be received by other users of this IP and appear to be irrelevant. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider using a soft block.

If you are an unregistered user operating from this address, note that this need not necessarily be the IP address of your machine. In many cases, it turns out to be the IP address of a proxy server that communicates between your browser and the Wikimedia servers. Such proxies are shared among a huge number of users compared to the number of persons using your particular machine. If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself.

However, you might still be unable to edit Wikipedia if the IP you are using is blocked due to a MediaWiki "feature". In such a case you could request to be unblocked.

In the event of vandalism from this address, efforts will be made to contact Starhub (Singapore) to report network abuse.

This IP has been repeatedly blocked from editing Wikipedia in response to abuse of editing privileges.
Further abuse from this IP may result in an immediate block without further warning.

Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome!

Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. --  Netsnipe  ►  06:10, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Regarding edits made during September 5, 2006 (UTC) to Singapore Zoo

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages or sections with blank content. It is considered vandalism. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. If this is an IP address, and it is shared by multiple users, ignore this warning if you did not make any unconstructive edits. Ryūlóng 05:50, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

You have recently vandalized a Wikipedia article, and you are now being asked to stop this type of behavior. You're welcome to continue editing Wikipedia, so long as these edits are constructive. Please see Wikipedia's Blocking policy and what constitutes vandalism; such actions are not tolerated on Wikipedia, and are not taken lightly.

We hope that you will become a legitimate editor. Again, you are welcome here at Wikipedia, but remember not to vandalize or you will soon be blocked from editing.

If you feel you have received this message in error, it may be because you are using a shared IP address. Nevertheless, repeated vandalism from this address may cause you to be included in any future sanctions such as temporary blocks or bans. To avoid confusion in the future, we invite you to create a user account of your own.-- - Glen 01:46, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to User:Hildanknight, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia, as you did in Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore). Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links as long as the content abides by our policies and guidelines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. If you feel that the edit I reverted should not have been reverted, please contact me. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 16:37, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Your repeated efforts to vandalize articles makes it seem that you are unaware that Wikipedia is a serious project. You have been reported to the administration group for continuing vandalism and an administrator will review your contributions shortly. You may not receive another warning before being blocked, so be careful and be serious from now on. If you are blocked, please reconsider your behavior once the block expires.

Protection of talk page

I am a user using this IP, which is currently blocked until 9 May 2007. While of course I have an account so the block doesn't affect me, surely the talk page should be unprotected so that users can place unblock appeals on it? Normally, the common-sense solution would be to create an account, but the blocking admin blocked account creation as well, thus leaving anonymous users editing from this IP absolutely no way to appeal their block or edit Wikipedia at all! You're supposed to be able to edit your talk page even when you're blocked so you can place unblock appeals on it, but isn't it a bit unjust if users editing from this IP can't even do that?
