I am concerned that, despite this latest block, this is a battle that cannot be won. This IP address is not shared by just one or two schools, but to my knowledge all the schools, primary and secondary, that fall under Shropshire County Council jurisdiction (possibly colleges too, but I can't confirm that). We're talking about thousands of computers, and tens of thousands of users here. This is now the 28th block, and considering a one month block earlier this year did nothing to end the vandalism (the IP address was blocked again within a day of the aforementioned month-long block ending), yet another block will do nothing. The kids will continue to mess up pages for "a laugh", or because they don't understand Wikipedia, or to deliberately incite a block (spoiling the party for everyone, as it were). The sooner the proposal for preventing anonymous edits from given IP addresses becomes policy (I hope) the better, in this case. --217.65.149.50 15:06, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your edit to March 13

Hi. I have reverted your addition to the Days of the Year Wikiproject page for March 13. I thank you for your contribution (it's nice to see something other than vandalism from this IP address, shared as it is with practically every school in Shropshire), but even as an ardent technology enthusiast myself I don't feel the obligation of all new Wi-Fi certified devices to support WPA2 becoming mandatory on this date is of sufficient historical significance to warrant inclusion alongside the likes of Microsoft's IPO, or the return to earth of Apollo 9! One has to have a sense of proportion on these Wikiproject pages, or else the list would balloon to a collosal length and become completely indigestible. See this page for suggested criteria for events that are suitable for inclusion on the Days of the Year pages.

Might I suggest instead that you consider adding this fact, if it can be supported by citing a reliable source, to the article on WPA2 itself? It would certainly add to the article to inform readers that Wi-Fi certified devices made and sold after this date must support this higher level of security. If you wish to discuss this further, please do so on my talk page. Thanks. --Matticus78 14:36, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

{{unblock|This IP address is shared between almost every school in [[Shropshire]] (possibly libraries and other council establishments too); that's thousands of computers, and tens of thousands of users, at the very least. The vandalism that comes from this IP smacks of kids messing around in lessons, and in all likelihood will not stop because of any block - the vandal(s) may not be the same person again and again, and it's unlikely they will even get the "you have new messages" alert (I got it instead). At the very least, change this to block anonymous users only, because I usually edit using a registered account and can no longer do so due to this block}}

I will request a sysop look into this. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 10:03, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
