[edit] It's important to understand Wikipedia's policies to avoid blacklisting
There have been cases of link-spamming and vanity article submissions from at least one other IP address in this block registered to Kellen, so I am writing to head off trouble from this address as well. (For more information on the other address, see this page; for a list of articles spammed, see this page and click on the links labelled "diff".)
As a Wikipedia volunteer, I thought I would spell some things out in hopes of avoiding hassles for everyone. I am not writing in an official capacity, but I am providing you links to various Wikipedia policies, guidelines and resources.
Please see the following policies and guidelines:
- Wikipedia:Conflict of interest
- Wikipedia:Notability (companies and corporations)
- Wikipedia:Editing with a conflict of interest
- Wikipedia:External links
In a nutshell, people affiliated with Kellen Interactive should not be adding spam links to Wikipedia articles tying them to Kellen clients' web sites. Kellen-affiliated personnel should not be publishing or editing articles associated with Kellen clients.
We're all familiar with Kellen Communication's decision to spam Wikipedia with unauthorized, prohibited spam links and vanity articles. That's why Wikipedia's founder has banned Kellen from editing Wikipedia articles.
Please see the discussion of Wikipedia's spam blacklist and decide if this is something you want to pursue. Links to domains added to this list are blocked not only in the English language version of Wikipedia but also in every other language version plus all other Wikipedia Foundation projects such as Wikihow, Wiktionary, etc.
It's permanent.
Think about it. Do you want to force this on your clients?
And also note this October 2006 discussion about a proposed initiative to publish our list of Wikipedia spammers for use by Google and other search engines building their own blacklists. It's unclear that this initiative will come to fruition, but if it does, you would not want your sites' Google placement endangered by spamming Wikipedia.
Cheers,
