[edit] Blocked?
I had noticed that there were vandalism notices from my IP address. I can get to wikipedia by going a round-about way, but www.wikipedia.org does not work. Is this due to us being blocked? That IP address attached to this page is the IP for the proxy server at my school district. I apologize for the mess a small number of students made. If we are indeed blocked from going to www.wikipedia.org, how do we go about getting unblocked? What precautions can I make to avoid being blocked in the future.
- Please register - ip address blocks don't affect the registered accounts. You may be blocked from editing wikipedia for vandalism, but you will never be blocked from accessing it. If you have troubles accessing the site, check your internet or proxy connection. Fireice uk 13:18, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Welcome, and thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia! Your test worked, and thank you for reverting or removing it yourself. The best way to do tests in the future would be to use the sandbox. You can look at these pages as well: how to edit a page, the tutorial, and how to write a great article. All of these pages are good places to start. Again, welcome, and I hope that you will like Wikipedia. Dina 18:01, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please don't be silly
Please don't mess about with joke edits, such as your edit to Great Depression - we try hard here to produce something we can all be proud of - silliness doesn't help. Articles are monitored and users messing about face a block or a ban. Why not try and contribute something useful instead? Have a look at the below and get stuck in properly:
- Image:Crystal 128 ksmiletris.png The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
- Fun stuff...
Thanks - and enjoy yourself as a responsible Wikipedian!
