I contend that the removed section only served to damage Wikipedia's reputation, as it consisted of mainly off-topic and false information. Removing content as such is not concidered vandalism according to Wikipedia's definition. The intention and effect of my removal would according to this definition be exactly the opposite.

Hi there. If you in fact removed information that was completely false, we really appreciate it. However, you must understand that sometimes, removal of large chuncks of text can be unfortunately misinterpreted as vandalism, as blanking pages is one of the most common forms of vandalism on Wikipedia. I'm glad to see you left a message on the talk page, and will look forward to the references you will provide. It is very likely that we overlooked the message that you left on the talk page. If we had seen it, you would not have received a notice regarding vandalism. If you have more questions, please feel free to come by my talk page! --HappyCamper 23:35, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi! A new edit has been done, this time providing some relevant information instead of simply removing text. What has been removed consisted largely of modern misconceptions and myths generally unrelated to the viking topic. There are good critical articles on runes and rune stones on Wikipedia, and no valuable information has been lost through the edit. Elston Gunn 23:51, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
