The Best of Poison: 20 Years of Rock is a compilation album by the American 1980s hair metal band Poison.

The album was released on April 3rd 2006 on EMI. It features many songs from all of the band's 20 year career. Most notable is the song "Every Rose Has Its Thorn", which was the band's biggest hit, a power ballad. It also features 2 covers: the first is a cover of the KISS classic "Rock and Roll All Nite" and the second is of the Grand Funk Railroad roadie classic "We're An American Band".
The album was produced by Don Was and marked Poison's return to the Billboard 200 top 20 charts, for the first time since 1993. The compilation debuted at #17, quite an impressive showing for a hair metal band in 2006. Showing the beneficial effect of many Behind the Music type shows on VH1, where Poison's hair metal antics were re-lived as if only yesterday.

The cover art is taken from the book Pornography: Opposing Viewpoints. [1]

[edit] The Atlanta Amphitheatre Altercation 25th August 2006

During the show in Atlanta on August 25, 2006, band members Bret Michaels and Bobby Dall had to be separated by members of the road crew and fellow band member Rikki Rockett after the two came to blows right before the encore, with Bret throwing his mic at Bobby, and Bobby retaliating by slamming his bass into Bret, injuring Bret's knee.

Michaels apologized later and stated, "You may have just seen the last concert by Poison in its current formation."

The altercation happened before the band's set ended, "Talk Dirty To Me". After some tense moments and Michaels' apology to the crowd including his explanation that "like brothers, sometimes you have to air things out", the band did finish the set. Dall left the stage immediately.[1]

This is not the first physical incident between the band members. There have been many over the years, but this is the first onstage since the famous fistfight between Bret and C.C. Deville at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1991, but that took place after the performance, not during.
