From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The above comment says it all. This IP address currently belongs to AHS, which I attend as a student (Junior year). AHS's IPs have previously been 207.241.244.1 and 207.241.250.1, and possibly other before that. (The IP address is also likely to change in the future.) For the former, I wrote that
207.241.244.1 is the IP address for Arlington High School in LaGrangville, New York. Because the entire school shares one server, any of the 100+ computers in our school distrcit can edit Wikipedia under the IP address 207.241.244.1. Unfortunately, blocking the IP address because of one technically literate but irresponsible person is a deserved action for that person (but an undeserved action on the behalf of the other 3000 students).
Editing Wikipedia is unofficially against school policy. This doesn't stop students from doing it, of course, and few edits are actually constructive. Since November 2005, only 17 good edits have been made and 20 other good ones have been reversions, mostly of things other students did. It is my suggestion that those who search for vandalism do not explain things to a faceless IP. Please note; thanks. P.S. The school has many times more than 100 computers. P.P.S. As a student I don't plan on editing WP, sadly. After all, it's against school rules. -Gracenotes T § 22:36, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions.
Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so, as you are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and edit articles; however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is 207.241.243.140). Logging in does not require any personal details. There are many other benefits for logging in to Wikipedia. For now, if you are stuck, you can type {{helpme}} on this page and an experienced Wikipedian will be around to answer any questions you may have.
Please note these points:
- Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
- Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as: copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Both adding such unreasonable information and editing articles maliciously are considered vandalism.
The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, ask me on my Talk page. I will answer your questions as far as I can! Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. Antonrojo 17:13, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

I have sent an e-mail to school district personnel reporting the problem and asking for their help.--A. B. 15:46, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Update: The school district's Web Services Staff Specialist responded immediately that they would investigate the problem. In a later e-mail, he wrote: "Based on the IP address provided, we've been able to narrow down the location to a particular junior high school within our wide area network. ... that specific address is actually that of the building's firewall device ..." He went on to write that the school district is looking at Wikipedia's date-time stamps and the district's usage logs to try to narrow down the particular computers that were used, and if possible, identify the kids that did this.--A.
