  • Sorry for the confusion, but here's what's going on: This IP address is a server-wide address for a high school, not an individual person. Just thought I'd let people know. All edits are probably isolated incidents made by students who do not understand completely what wikipedia is about.TrogdorPolitiks 19:41, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Your recent edit of some article was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If you were experimenting, know that everyone really is welcome to contribute, but tests should be done in the sandbox. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept our apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. // Tawkerbot2 17:19, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sockpuppetry

Note that this user and his likely puppets (Special:Contributions/Pieguy and Special:Contributions/ZeromusEG) were found to be alternatingly vandalising several articles (Toilet and Band-Aid). --Madchester 19:08, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

  • See the banner above: this is the Yolo County Office of Education's IP address, and it represents a whole school district of thousands of students. We are not using sock puppets. TrogdorPolitiks 19:03, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A solution to vandalism complaints

If there is some way to block only unregistered users on an IP, then that would probably solve the edit problem completely. Since this IP represents thousands of students, blocking unregistered users only would allow individual users who still have something to contribute to continue to contribute. I personally know of several users who have contributed huge amounts to sections of wikipedia in their special interests, and would have contributed more if it was not for blocks that have been put in place.

Blocking only unregistered users would allow administrators to deal with users on a one-by-one basis, instead of just imposing a blanket block. Since most vandalisms are single offenses made by students who are just testing the limits, and the majority of offenses are made by unregistered users, this would solve the problem while still allowing students who have useful information to contribute.TrogdorPolitiks 19:08, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
