[edit] Vandalism or not?

On checking the archived warnings, it looks like the vast majority of accusations of vandalism against people using this IP address are false, and that this IP address is being banned by reputation alone. It also seems that a number of people, who have been falsely accused, have then retaliated by actually attacking Wikipedia. I note that the original person who used this account, on the request for arbitration page, said that they only ever edited Martin Bryant-related articles. It seems that that user is long gone, from May 2005 when they were banned. These new people look like different people to me. 203.122.225.241 14:55, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Just adding to this comment. It looks like Internodeuser made very few edits using that nickname, and primarily used this IP address or else User:203.26.206.129, hence they were not sock puppets at all, just that they didn't want to get an account. They don't seem to have engaged in any acts of vandalism, and the arbitration page talks primarily about them talking about User:longhair in a derogatory fashion, and telling people that they were idiots for not agreeing with their point of view. They then seem to have been banned because they made legal threats to sue Wikipedia for slander, in relation to what they said about him.

Using this IP as an excuse to ban people accusing them of vandalism and of being the same person, when the original person didn't engage in any acts of vandalism. I think that if people were to look at the edits made on this address, and User:203.26.206.129 they would see that the vast majority were not vandalism, and were most certainly not the person who created the Internodeuser name.

However, in saying that, there does seem to be at least 1, possibly 2 or 3, others who have used this account that do seem to have engaged in vandalism at some point. I suspect that they were doing so in retaliation to the way that they were attacked by Wikipedia administrators, who thought that they were Internodeuser.

I would suggest that the "sockpuppet" tags be removed from the 2 accounts, and to judge the users of these IP addresses independently. It seems like potentially thousands of people use these IPs, yet all of them seem to be painted with the same brush.

Judging by the absence of any edits from this IP on the Martin Bryant or Port Arthur massacre pages since May 2005, I think it is safe to say that Internodeuser is no longer with us. 203.122.225.241 19:28, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Possible sock puppet

It is a bit of a hunch, but the only edit I could find on Martin Bryant or Port Arthur massacre that was similar to Internodeuser was by User:203.12.22.34. That may be a sockpuppet of Internodeuser. 203.122.225.241 19:50, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

For evidence, see:

I checked everywhere else, and the only other edit that comes close is User:Carolaman but the location makes it unlikely that that is a sock puppet. They did have an edit conflict with longhair shortly after Internodeuser was banned though.

Otherwise, I would suggest that Internodeuser isn't here anymore. 203.122.225.241 19:57, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

For evidence, see:

  • User_talk:Carolaman#Martin_Bryant - talking about the reverted edits on Martin Bryant
  • [2] - first of 5 edits on Martin Bryant, involved in an edit war with User:longhair. Whilst the content isn't much, the fact that they reverted edits by longhair 5 times suggests that it may be a sockpuppet. This was also the first edit to either page that was made after Internodeuser was banned from Wikipedia. Perhaps he just got himself a new account?

Of course, as I said before, I don't think that Carolaman is a sock puppet. I think if there is one, it is more likely to be 203.12.22.34. Just thought I'd help to clear that up. 203.122.225.241 20:20, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
