[edit] Scoring System

Apparently, its 3 points for a win, 2 points for a win in OT, 1 point for a loss in OT and 0 for a loss in regulation. This is a bit different to previous tournaments. Personally, I don't like it very much. ------ Lord Tau 08:53, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

The reasoning, and it is a solid one, is that all games are worth 3 points. It places a premium on winning a game in its regulation, and better rewards teams who win in regulation. In the past, some games were worth only 2 points (a regulation win) some games worth 3(2 for the win, 1 for the loss), so there was an inequity in the points totals. This way, every game is worth the same amount of points.

The article says the change is to more closely follow the NHL, which is false. The NHL give 2 points to winner, regardless of whether its OT or regulation, or SO.

Of course, now it makes sense!! After seeing it in action, I retract my previous statement, and actually like the new scoring system. (Team GB almost got promoted as a result, you see :-)) ---- Lord Tau 22:33, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
If it were... +2 win ; +1 OT win ; 0 tie ; -1 OT loss ; -2 loss ; then we can experience negative scores. A .500 team would literally have zero points. 70.51.8.227

[edit] adverts on the boards

Did anyone notice that about 99.99% of the advertisements on the boards, and ice, are Canadian? 70.51.8.227 08:41, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
