- Fastest Lap: Damon Hill 1:21.547
- Pole position: Damon Hill 1:18.111
- Marques and Diniz had their qualifying times disallowed for, respectively, a push-start and missing the signal to go to the weighbridge. They had to start at the back of the gird.
- Herbert stared from the pit lane after switching to the back up car due to electrical problems.
- This race was run under heavy rain.
- First Start: Tarso Marques.
