[edit] 500 cc race report
Wayne Rainey on pole; Kevin Schwantz 1.3 seconds back on the 2nd row. Rainey gets the start from John Kocinski, Schwantz and Mick Doohan. Rainey starts opening a gap from Kocinski and Wayne Gardner, who are leaving Schwantz and Doohan to fight for 4th, with Eddie Lawson looking on in 6th.
Doohan catches Gardner, but has a very hard time getting past. He manages it and catches up to Kocinski, but Rainey is too far for Doohan to close him down.
