[edit] Hmmm...
Hello. You seem to be combining some good, solid edits with some... umm... "playfulness." We welcome your contributions. I looked over your edits and I see we have you to thank for correcting some things in several articles. However, please restrain the playful urges. Specifically, I'm talking about things like editing an article to call someone a "pretentious hack," adding links to "Is Bush gay?" and Votergasm, that sort of thing. We are trying to build a top-notch encyclopedia, a place people will want to come to for knowledge. OK? :-) Thank you. SWAdair | Talk 01:29, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Stop posting nonsense to wikipedia. Also, this edit summary is inappropriate, and will cause you to be blocked from editing if repeated. RickK 05:36, Nov 7, 2004 (UTC)
Your unsigned nonsense at User talk:Alberuni while the said user is blocked and can't even revert your edit himself is very much not appreciated. It is also inappropriate and provocative especially as the user has now a case pending at the WP:RFAr. BACbKA 23:44, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)

- You've asked on my talk page:
- I asked if Alberuni was a woman and you called it "unsigned nonsense". How about you drop the act and stop pretending you're defending Albeurni's "honor". You probably don't even know whether Alberuni is a woman or not.
- First, please refrain from personal attacks, even in the check-in comments. Your "Is Alberuni a woman?" was about as on-topic in the Wikipedia as your previously frowned upon "Is Bush gay?". Especially after Alberuni explicitly stayed (although in pretty nasty terms) that he prefers to maintain his privacy. (BTW, what are the reasons you are working as an anonymous IP? First get the log in and name yourself, and then you'll have much better ground for inquiring about others' real life). When I said "unsigned nonsense" I meant that you 1) didn't sign your edit 2) wrote nonsense for the reasons above. I'm not "defending Alberuni's honor", and I definitely disagree with a lot of inflammatory comments by him. Nevertheless, I still think that mocking a user in the WP talk pages is not a good idea, and doing so with a blocked user is foul play. BACbKA 21:47, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)

- You don't seem to get the picture. I asked whether Alberuni was a woman because I wanted to know whether Alberuni was a woman or not. I saw Alberuni being referred to as he/she on one of the talk pages and I had to ask myself: is Alberuni a woman? I didn't feel the need to sign my question because it didn't relate to me. I didn't realize that Alberuni was blocked from editing, but it seemed like someone else would know whether Alberuni was a woman or not anyway. I see now that Alberuni has asked for his/her private life to remain a mystery (he/she probably wants us to think that he/she lives in Palestine), but you might also notice that Alberuni has asked other editors the same thing. After he/she calls Ta bu shi da yu a little boy, he/she says "What's ironic, you're actually a girl?". I did not ask if Alberuni was a "girl" because I wasn't trying to belittle him/her. I asked if he/she was a woman. What you're doing is trying to turn my question into a personal attack. I wasn't "mocking" Alberuni or trying to make a fool out of him/her, he/she does a good enough job of that him/herself. If you just took my question seriously in the first place then there wouldn't be a problem.
- I see. In this case, I apologize for not having assumed enough good faith — as I said, it was your previous "playful edits" that had reflected negatively on my perception of this one. I don't know what the Alberuni's gender is, and refer to the user as "him", as is customary in English for the gender-neutral address in the context of most words (personally, I don't support the "political correctness" idea of he/she him/her etc. because it transforms a normal conversation into sort of legalese). - P.S. It is probably a good idea to sign your comments with ~~~~ if you expect a serious answer to a question you ask. Then again, some people choose to ignore anonymous users talk by default, so maybe getting a login is another good idea. Finally, if you gave a reference or a quote to the talk page with Alberuni referred to as he/she that had prompted you to ask the original question, I would have "gotten the picture" on the spot. (This is just a friendly advice on making your comments become more attractive for serious answers). BACbKA 07:24, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)

- I'm glad we settled this misunderstanding. I've taken your advice and created a login that I will use, it's User:CPS. -- Chaz

- The personal attacks on BACbKA in your edit summaries are out of line - please don't do that. -- sannse (talk) 22:17, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC)
