1986 BDO World Darts Championship

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1986 Embassy World Darts Championship was the 9th World Professional Championships. The tournament was held between January 4 and January 11. The championship moved to a new venue, the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey having been held at Jollees Cabaret Club in Stoke-on-Trent for the previous 7 years. The Lakeside became the third venue in the history of the World Championships.

Eric Bristow completed a hat-trick of titles - bringing his overall tally to 5 World Championships. This was to be his last world title. He appeared in four more finals, however was defeated by John Lowe, Jocky Wilson, Phil Taylor and Dennis Priestley.

This was Whitcombe's second and last final. Again he was comfortably seen off by Bristow, by 6-0
