  • February 17 - Patrick Kerr, a prison official, is killed by members of the Provisional IRA as he walked with his children from Mass in Armagh.
  • February 20 - RUC member Frank Murphy is killed by Provisional IRA members while driving through Armagh.
  • February 23 - Three members (volunteers) within the Provisional IRA are killed by police in Strabane.
  • February 26 - Nine RUC members are killed in a mortar attack by the Provisional IRA in Newry.
  • March 3 - RUC member Hugh McCormac is killed with walking with his family to Mass in Enniskillen.
