This was the television schedule on all three networks for the fall season beginning in September 1983. All times are Eastern and Pacific, with certain exceptions, such as Monday Night Football.
New fall series are highlighted in bold.
The highest-rated show for the year is highlighted in lime. The top 10 rated programs are highlighted in yellow. The top 20 rated programs are highlighted in cyan. Rankings determined by Nielsen Media Research[1]
PBS, the Public Broadcasting Service, was in operation but the schedule was set by each local station.

Note: On March 19, 1984, CBS premiered the midseason replacement Kate & Allie at 9:00pm while Cagney & Lacey returning from previous cancellation, aired at 10:00pm. On ABC, The ABC Monday Night Movie aired 9-11 p.m. in January 1984, after the end of the NFL season. On NBC, TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes premiered as a series at 8:00pm.
