Dear User, Ramesses II was indeed a red head from the microscopic examination of his hair fibres which was carried out by the French in the 1970's when his mummy was sent to Paris for preservation. (see Bob Brier, The Encyclopedia of Mummies, Checkmark Books, 1998. p.57) Brier may have indulged in much over speculation over the so-called 'murder of Tutankhamun' but he is a first rate anatomist at Long Island University. He correctly notes taht Ramesses II suffered from terrible dental pain and arthritis in his final decade of his existence. This fact establishes that Ramesses II's family were not originally native Egyptians. Rather, they came from somewhere in the Levant and migrated to the Delta region of Lower Egypt which was his family's home base in Egypt. Leoboudv 06:09, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
