1957 Uber Cup

The 1957 Uber Cup was the inaugural Uber Cup; a women's badminton tournament created by Betty Uber. It was held in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, England on 18 March 1957, and 11 nations took part[1][2]. It is also referred to as taking place in 1956-57. The United States won the event, defeating Denmark.

Only three teams took part in first edition of the tournament (United States, India, Denmark), Denmark received a bye in the first round directly to the final. Originally four teams were to be represented, but New Zealand (qualified from Australasia) withdrew.
