No. Ardbraccan (meaning the height/hill of Braccan) was always about a mile away on a hill (obviously!) where the church and graveyard is. (When you are next in Liscarton, turn left on the Kells Road at the gates to the old castle, then take the next right at Newgate (the big garage and shop called 'Newgate Stores' — you can drop in and say hello to the owner, Martha!) and go on straight after half a mile or so you'll see a big set of gates. That is one of the entrances. If you continue following the road around you'll come to a crossroads. Take a left and go along a narrowish road (you'll pass another set of gates into the house) you'll go down a steep hill (Before that on your left you'll see a row of houses down a lane. That is all that remains of Ardbraccan village, once a major urban settlement. If you ignore it and on down the hill the next turn on your left will bring you down a laneway to Ardbraccan Church and graveyard. (There's yet another set of gates to the house and the estate at the end of the lane!)

I don't think the bishops lived in Liscarton Castle, though it is possible. They were by the middle ages exceedingly rich, so it is quite possible that they owned that property too. In the mid eighteenth century they replaced the tudor manor house with the current Ardbraccan House so it is possible they lived in the Castle at Liscarton for a while.

Actually Liscarton was lived in until the early 20th century. There are pictures of a small (I think thatched) wing to the old long derelict main building in existence. But I think people ceased to live in it in the early years of the 20th century.

I only know of two places in the area where bishops lived: in Ardbraccan House (and the preceding Tudor manor house) from around 885 until 1885 (Ardbraccan at one stage was a separate diocese until all the small dioceses in Meath were merged together in the Great Synod of Kells in 1152) and Bishopscourt, a small georgian/victorian house nearby where the bishop lived until I think 1958. (It is now the Holy Ghost Father's house, An tobar.)

As to the Bishop and Parnell, it is possible. Parnell did have a big link with Navan (he addressed meetings in Market Square. I once met a woman who attended one of those meetings). The Bishop moved in I think 1907. It proved disastrous. The gobshites made a complete f---up and lost all the diocesian records in the house. (How can you lose an entire archive???) I remember hearing somewhere that there may have been some link to the Bishop's attack on Parnell, but then that might have been a rumour, and the move to Mullingar might have been totally unconnected with it. I hope that helps. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 04:39, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

You have been blocked from editing for vandalism of Wikipedia. The block is for a period of 24 hours. If you wish to make useful contributions, you are welcome to come back after the block expires. If you are collateral damage of this block, send me an e-mail and I'll review. Why Cambro-Norman? Johnleemk | Talk 16:11, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Because the Normans who were recruited by Diarmaid Mac Murchadha were based in Wales, not England. The leader of the invasion was Richard de Clare, aka Strongbow who was the Earl of Pembroke in Wales. Did they just block me for changing that?

The block mentioned above was for previous vandalism from this IP. I didn't go and check the block log for today, but I find it unlikely that someone would have blocked you recently. The few edits I looked at in your history were reasonable. :) --Syrthiss 16:34, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Cambro-norman

It appears I may have erred. We don't have an article about Cambro-Norman, it was a term which I was unfamiliar with, you left no edit summary, this IP has been used recently multiple times for vandalism. I think I found one of the vandalism edits, and then reverted other questionable edits. Sorry for the inconvenience. Morwen - Talk 20:55, 12 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ulster and British Isles

I see you removed British Isles from the Ulster page talking about Lough Neagh accusing it of being political. British Isles isn't political at all, it is the geographic term for the islands of Ireland and Great Britain neither of which are political terms. Ben W Bell 08:49, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

To Irish people, "British Isles" is nothing but a political claim to Ireland. I think you'll find that this is the unanimous consensus over on the Talk page of that article. It is no coincidence that the first record of the term "British Isles" to include Ireland is only in 1621, after the Battle of Kinsale and while Britain was trying to conquer Ireland. http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=british&searchmode=none

The first record of the phrase was hundreds of years before Kinsale! Check out your classic geographers and philosophers. --Mal 06:41, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. You wrote:

Congratulations on changing Gleann Cholm Cille (and many other Gaeltacht areas) to an anglicised version. That took a lot of courage given the perilous situation of the English language. It's about time those Irish with their backward language were eliminated entirely from Ireland. Thank you for, like many Englishmen before you, doing your part. God bless. 193.1.172.138 12:41, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Dear anonymous user at the University College Dublin,
I happen to believe that English should be used when working in the English wikipedia. It's this thing I have. English names in English. Silly, I know. Many cities and towns across the world have other names in their native tongues. I don't think, for instance, you'll find Rome as the official name of the capital of Italy, but we still happen to keep our article under that name. Because it's the English name.
You may wish to visit WP:IMOS to understand why we don't use the official names of Gaeltacht cities on the English wikipedia.
You'll be pleased to know that I'm all for the use of Irish names in Irish, however. I personally, despite not knowing Irish, have contributed myself a great deal. If you'd like to contribute to the vastly impressive Irish wikipedia, you can find it at ga.wikipedia.org.
By the way, I'm not an Englishman. I'm an American. Bastiqueparler voir 15:17, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fabio Cannavaro

Hi - your edits to Fabio Cannavaro in the "Technical ability" section provide no sources and are very very "POV". Unless you can give some backup to the statements like "widespread recognition of him being one of the best outright defenders ever", or "is famous for his superb anticipation", that whole area will probably get taken out. Ringraziamenti e riguardi IsaacAsv 11:07, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Your personal attack on me at Talk:Fabio Cannavaro does not improve your argument. That attack and your comments in relation to the validity of your POV statements in the main article show instead that you are not familiar with the rules of the Wikipedia. I am going to add my CITE references back in again, and if you revert without providing a source, or continue your habit (as I have seen on other pages) of personal attack, then I will ask for a block. (Wait until you grow up and leave college before you start telling people that they are wrong and that you know everything. If you think that because I am new that I will put up with bullying then you are incorrect.) Me ne frego IsaacAsv 14:52, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Please be careful not to remove content from Wikipedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Thank you. --james(talk) 12:08, 30 August 2006 (UTC)t1a
