From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Attention:

This IP address, 192.30.202.19, is used by Toronto Public Library and may be shared by multiple users using public terminals. In the case of organizations using proxy servers, this IP address may in fact represent many users at many physical computers.

For this reason a message intended for one person may be received by another. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. (In some cases you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism in which case we invite you to try again at a later time or from a different computer.)

In the event of vandalism from this address, efforts will be made to contact Toronto Public Library to report network abuse.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider using a soft block with the template {{anonblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

[edit] Please read this before leaving messages on this page

This is not the user page of any one user. This IP address is shared by a large number of people as this is a public library with 100 or so internet terminals. Any warnings you may place may not even be read by those responsible for any vandalism!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.30.202.19 (talkcontribs) 13:51, December 13, 2006 (UTC)

The above statement really does not matter, as repeated vandalism from an IP warrants blocking regardless of the number of people using it. -Kukini 20:43, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Yes Kukini, it does, does, does matter. The vandals are unlikely going to stick around to read your warnings. But the comment above was placed there to let people like yourself know that this IP address is shared by a number of different people and they are not all committing vandalism. You removed this message I had left earlier saying it was unsigned attack. What part of it was the attack? Where I asked you to use some commong sense? You seem to have a real dictatorial streak! (Is saying that an attack?) It appears that you really want to silence those who criticize your behaviour! 192.30.202.18 16:46, 15 December 2006 (UTC) (Someone who shares this IP adress, without committing any vandalism.)
Regardless, if someone from this IP is vandalizing, a message will be left here to warn them to stop. That message will also be seen by others at this IP, but what other alternative is there? We have a policy that we will issue warnings before blocking the IP. So, despite the message above, we will continue to leave messages on this page when warranted. Fan-1967 21:17, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Vandalism from IP addresses is handled differently from vandalism by named users. As a rule, admins don't block IP vandals unless the vandalism is presently ongoing with recent warnings (within the past hour or so). The upside of this policy is that innocent users are protected. The downside is that anonymous users get away with a lot of vandalism, causing tremendous amount of unnecessary work for the rest of us. Why not take two minutes and register a username, so the issue is moot? Raymond Arritt 22:16, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Firebrand (DC Comics)

I reverted your changes about the gay spec. First it's spec, and Wikipedia is not the place for that. If you can cite a source where the author/person in question clearly says that, then yes, it's okay. Secondly, his sister was the second firebrand, not 'number 5' (what does that mean?) so I removed that. Please feel free to talk on the Firebrand talk page about this. -- Ipstenu (talk|contribs) 03:07, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions.

Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so, as you are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and edit articles; however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is 192.30.202.19). Logging in does not require any personal details, and there are many other benefits for logging in.

When you edit pages:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such content or editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. For now, if you are stuck, you can click the edit this page tab above, type {{helpme}} in the edit box, and then click Save Page; an experienced Wikipedian will be around shortly to answer any questions you may have. Also feel free to ask a question on my talk page. I will answer your questions as far as I can! Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. Just as an FYI...entire IP addresses are regularly blocked for vandalism. The block you questioned was a soft block, allowing users to still edit if they sign in with a user name while the block is effective. Happy editing, and please realize that the same can happen to any IP with a record of vandalism. Best, -Kukini 01:35, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] April 2007

This is the only warning you will receive for your disruptive edits. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did to Independent contractor, you will be blocked from editing. — zero » 18:01, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make any unconstructive edits, please ignore this warning
Your repeated efforts to vandalize articles makes it seem that you are unaware that Wikipedia is a serious project. You have been reported to the administration group for continuing vandalism and an administrator will review your contributions shortly. You may not receive another warning before being blocked, so be careful and be serious from now on. If you are blocked, please consider changing your behavior when the block expires.

Please do not add unhelpful and unconstructive information to Wikipedia, as you did to Canadian nationality law. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Seed 2.0 23:23, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for repeated abuse of editing privileges. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Geniac 19:08, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
