Several teams were unable to complete their fixtures due to financial difficulties. The championship was never awarded. As a result, Division Three would be scrapped next season. Most clubs in the division (those marked above in pink) have not since made a return to the league.

St Mirren were winners of the Scottish Cup after a 2-0 final win over Division One champions Celtic.
