From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 1892 Auburn Tigers football team was the first college football team fielded by the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama (now known as Auburn University). The squad was first coached by George Petrie, but he was replaced after back to back losses by a combined 98-6; D.M. Balliet became head coach for the season finale versus Georgia Tech. Auburn managed to shut out George Tech 26-0 just two days after being shutout themselves by North Carolina. The team finished the season with a record of 2–2.
