The 1891-92 Australian cricket season featured just four domestic matches involving New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria.
The highlight of the year was the tour by Lord Sheffield's XI during which Lord Sheffield donated the famous Sheffield Shield to be contested by Australian colonial sides from the following season.
