17 Hippies are a band from Berlin, Germany, playing largely on acoustic instruments. Their music is a confection of various folk influences, and is performed with considerable style and energy.

[edit] History

Founded 1995 in Berlin by Christopher Blenkinsop, they have played more than a thousand concerts, mainly in Germany and France, with frequent shows in Switzerland, Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Austria, Spain, Russia and Japan. Their live appearance in the US is limited to a few concerts in Austin, Texas, and in Britain to a single gig in London in 2005.

In Britain they are probably best known for the soundtrack to the 2002 German film Halbe Treppe, released in English as Grill Point.
