[edit] Indietronic bands (specifically the Twilight Lieutenants) removal

Hello, 168.56.37.8. You recently objected to the removal of Todosantos and The Twilight Lieutenants from the indietronica article. I assume you are also the user Mychal who added a comment on my talk page - if not, let me know. I added a short message on the indietronica talk page discussing my reason for the removal, but I'll explain more here. You said that you are not completely familiar with editing Wikipedia. Hence, you may be unfamiliar with Wikipedia's music notability criteria. Please read this page if you have not done so already. You may also be interested in reading Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, specifically the parts about self-promotion and being an indiscriminate collection of information. I removed the bands with these guidelines in mind. I may have been mistaken but the Twilight Lieutenants do not seem to meet any of these criteria. I mentioned the Google and Last.fm searches since they are merely a quick way to check for notability very roughly. Of course not every notable subject is discussed extensively on the web, but many are. It seems to me that the Twilight Lieutenants are a small act without any major notability at this time. I don't mean to sound condescending by saying so; in fact, I sympathize with your situation. I am an avid listener of unknown/underground music myself. However, if every band that had a Myspace page also had a Wikipedia article, the encyclopedia would become unimaginably cluttered with lots of irrelevant articles. That is why the notability guidelines were created and why I try to uphold them.

Don't let the Twilight Lieutenants' removal get you down. Some day if/when they gain notability, they can be re-added. Of course, if you feel that you have evidence that they are notable enough for inclusion now, go for it. However, it seems to me that they just don't make the cut at this time. Keep the band going, though. I listened to some stuff on your Myspace page; it's not bad! Imaginaryoctopus(talk) 23:10, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
