Response
Whoever made these comments, please keep in mind that "Such an IP address can be shared by several users". If you have a complaint, it might be wise to indicate which article you are complaining about, so there is some relevance to your comment.
- Hello, I usually do include a reference to the article, I am not sure why I did not do that this time. In any case, my message was regarding this article John Howard, more specifically http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=John_Howard&diff=prev&oldid=26520045 this edit]. This may concern another user then yourself. To avoid receiving messages that do not concern you, it might be a good idea to create an account. In the future, please sign your messages with ~~~~ so it's easier to see who wrote it and respond accordingly. Thanks! Regards, --JoanneB 15:19, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

Block
Clearly you know what you are doing, as the Lambo article indicated. Equally clearly you don't care. You are blocked for one week. DS 05:19, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Information and criticism
For those of you who are quite unprofessionally and inappropriately getting upset at the alleged 'vandalization' from this IP address, please note that this is the IP address of a large corporation, therefore it is probably the IP address of one of its proxy servers.
I understand the reasonableness of banning the IP address so the one (or few) who vandalize wikipedia from this IP address are stopped, but keep in mind that assuming all people accessing wikipedia from this IP address are vandals is an inaccurate characterisation.
Making clearly emotional accusatory statements on this page is not productive. I have made constructive changes to wikipedia from this IP address and would also condemn any vandalism. (For instance, I have no idea what a "Lambo" article is and I did not even look at the John Howard article, let alone edit it.)
But as administrators you have a responsibility to act reasonally and justly. YOU need to act more maturely in your communication so those of us inadvertently using the same user IP address as a vandal are not confused by your communication about vandalism. Communicate accurately rather than ranting please.
This includes you, DragonFly and you Ixfd64.
Regards, Andrew F.

Welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia! You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and gives you many benefits, including:
- The use of a username of your choice
- The ability to view all your contributions via a "My contributions" link
- Your own user page
- Your own talk page which, if you choose, also allows users to send you messages without knowing your e-mail address
- The use of your own personal watchlist to which you can add articles that interest you
- The ability to rename pages
- The ability to upload images
- The ability to customize the appearance and behavior of the website
- The eligibility to become an administrator
- The right to be heard in votes and elections
- Your IP address will no longer be visible to other users.
We hope that you choose to become a Wikipedian and create an account. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have on my talk page. We hope you enjoy your time here on Wikipedia as a Wikipedian!
To contact me, you can use the "Email this user" link, which I only read at home (not work), or ask me questions at my talk page (as you already did). I suggest you register an account to avoid being misidentified as a vandal. At the moment, if a vandal IP is blocked, all logged-in users are also blocked from that IP, but there is discussion to modify the software to avoid that. To suggest articles might be merged, add {{mergeto}} and {{mergefrom}} templates to the top of the page, naming the other article. In the case you mentioned, one is about the type of device, and the other about one particular brand, so they might well be better left separate (although referring to each other, and possibly some info moved). --Scott Davis Talk 02:27, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article People from Adelaide may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers, and encourages them to become Wikipedians. On Wikipedia, all users are entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. Alphachimp talk 02:49, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
