[edit] Freddie Mercury

Hes reverting the Mercury page again, pls revert back again, thank you. --Spahbod 00:33, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

I am not a believer in edit wars and please don't ask me to get involved in one. In the first case the citation clearly indicated the singer as being Parsi. I notice today that the wording has been expanded to include this so that part is taken care of...more or less. Review the edit history of that page....Mercury's ethnic origin has been a bone of contention for a long time. I see someone has tagged him as being Iranian again...which again contradicts the references. That was already an edit war in the past. I expect another will break out once the regular editors notice the mistake. When this type of dispute breaks out it is better to request mediation rather than just rv each other and go 3RR. 156.34.142.110 21:38, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions.

Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so, as you are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and edit articles; however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is 156.34.142.110). Logging in does not require any personal details, and there are many other benefits for logging in.

When you edit pages:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such content or editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. For now, if you are stuck, you can click the edit this page tab above, type {{helpme}} in the edit box, and then click Save Page; an experienced Wikipedian will be around shortly to answer any questions you may have. Also feel free to ask a question on my talk page. I will answer your questions as far as I can! Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. —Dgiest c 15:43, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks you for the welcome. I enjoy RC patrolling every now and then just to see if I can catch anything naughty(or just plain stupid). Should I decide to actually "edit" I will set up a user name. Good day. 156.34.142.110 15:50, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question from a user who vandalised Wikipedia while unlogged

I didnt do the vandalism on the lars ulrich page, but it was funny. why did you have to be a kill-joy and revert it?

You're asking why I reverted vandalism??? Why are you here? 156.34.142.110 18:42, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

I've noticed that you appear to be one user on a non-static IP. I suggest that you get an account with wikipedia, as it makes contribution and communication easier for non-static users. --Wildnox(talk) 18:50, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

I just RC watch. I've had a username in the past. But for hitting the recent changes link and picking off vandals(which is easy)...a username isn't really req'd. Plus, this static IP used by a couple of other editors(co-workers) who, like me, just RC watch for fun every now and then. Since nothing but valid edits and vandal rv's come from this IP....it already has a good "IP reputation". Why ruin it with a made up name? Thanks for the invite though. Have a nice day. 156.34.142.110 19:25, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. AfD Speedy closed as Keep and noted on article talk. Thanks again! -- Avi 18:47, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Tanya Foxx

You tagged this article for speedy deletion as a db-repost but I can't find any evidence that its been debated at AfD in the past or even deleted before. I've removed the tag. If you can point me to the previous AfD discussion that resulted in a delete I will be happy to reconsider this. Thanks, Gwernol 14:56, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Bad memory glitch for me. The article creator has a history of NN articles which were either AfD'd or Speedy D'd. I was sure this one went through the "long road". Was it a speedy? If neither then I guess I need another cup of coffee to perk my memory up. The article is definitely a {prod} if anything. Like the creators other articles it shades WP:BIO and WP:NN pretty thinly. 156.34.142.110 15:09, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time

This article was indeed deleted before, on 12 November 2006 by User:Makemi with the reason "copyvio". This means it can't be tagged with {{db-repost}} since it hasn't gone through a full AfD. Its not clear to me whether this would actually count as a copyright violation or not. I'm not a copyright lawyer but I don't believe you can copyright lists - they are just ideas and copyright only applies to the particular form of an idea not the idea itself. It might be worth taking this to AfD to seek clarification from the broader community. Best, Gwernol 18:56, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Danny Cedrone

Thank you for removing the vandalism to the Danny Cedrone article. 23skidoo 18:52, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

No Prob. You never know what your going to see when you hit the RC link. Fun Fun Fun. 156.34.142.110 19:18, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] spelling

hi,

i noticed that you changed the spelling in Battle of Normandy from american to british. i'll first assure you that i am not going to revert it, so there is no revert war brewing. but i thought i would gently (and hopefully without annoying you) point out the provisions of WP:ENGVAR to you, in case you hadn't seen them. the upshot (with some minor exceptions) is that americans should leave british spellings alone when they see them, and speakers of the "queen's english" should do the same with americanized spelling. to do otherwise encourages mindless edit wars that achieve nothing, and leave bad feelings all around. i just saw an editor lose his nomination to be an admin partly because an innocent change of "travelling" to "traveling" was deemed "ameri-centric".

my two pence. --barneca (talk) 22:21, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Allen Collins

QUICK QUESTION.. WHY DID YOU REMOVE MY EDITS TO THE ALLEN COLLINS PAGE? THE INFORMATION I STATED WAS VALID.

-VOODOOLAKE

Edits were rv'd because A) the photo upload was incorrectly tagged and B)The text violated several Wikipedia Policies including WP:CITE, WP:NPOV, WP:NOR, WP:AWW and WP:V. Hope that helps. 156.34.142.110 12:32, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

I hadn't even realised {{Infobox Guitarist}} existed, thanks for 'stalking' those :) !--Alf melmac 13:11, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

I hereby award you, the anonymous contributors hailing from 156.34.0.0 - 156.34.255.255, with The Barnstar of Anonymous Contribution, for the unsung and thankless service you have rendered unto Wikipedia, in your countless minor edits and bigger contributions over time. They have made a difference in our community and hopefully retelling this event to the barmen you encounter may bring forth the odd free beer to wrap in your hand. Thanks!--Alf melmac 14:23, 3 April 2007 (UTC) and Bubba hotep 14:24, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

tears, smiles, waves to the audience as he walks down the podium, kisses losing IPs on the cheek. 156.34 is a team of bored librarians(and the occasional vandalising student...but we'll ignore them). On behalf of the "library crew"..we thank you for the token of Wiki-appreciation. 156.34.142.110 14:35, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Actually, this has more historical significance than appears on the surface. You see, this is probably the only Barnstar young Alfred has given out this year (something about losing the keys to the cabinet or something) so, as such, is rare indeed. Guard it with your life. ;) Bubba hotep 14:49, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I've swallowed the Barnstar key :) . Twenty years ago...in a bar in Halifax...I met Lemmy. He's not a very big man but his presence in the bar seemed to cast a veil of fear and trepidation over all the bikers and longshoremen in the establishment. With great anxiety I walked up to him and struck up a brief conversation about A) That I was a fan and B) That Motorhead's music really meant a lot to me.( I had tipped a few I expect I sounded like an idiot). Lemmy simply smiled/grunted/said thanks and clinked my glass. If I can stand up to him....Wikipedia vandals are easy. Have a nice day. 156.34.142.110 15:01, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Superb. :) Bubba hotep 15:12, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Oh my golly gosh, we are to substantiate that Black Sabbath are heavy metal now, sheesh, what sillyness.... states off into the distance and wonders what will come over the hill next --Alf melmac 13:14, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
