However it is not fine to remove her from category Muslims, which I assume you did because you don't view her has one. She is a Muslim because she calls herself one. Unfortunately, it's not that simple. This IP address is one of a set of (IIRC three) caching proxies used by the Tertiary Education Network (whois info at [2]), an organisation which provides Internet connectivity to virtually all the universities and colleges in South Africa - at the time of writing, 52 different institutions (list at [3]). This proxy could theoretically be used by any student from any of those institutions. Much as I support any attempt to find and discipline anyone who commits an act of vandalism, I suspect that the scale (and the layers of bureaucracy involved) would make such a task impossible. (For an idea of the scale, we are talking about multiple universities with more than 20 000 students each.) htonl 20:10, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Blocking this IP causes collateral damage. Many legimate South African users on TENET are being blocked because of this. I sent an email to have this IP whitelisted but there's been no action so that's why I'm appealing here. - Phorque 10:49, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

The IP address isn't directly blocked, please read Wikipedia:autoblock for a description of the autoblocker. It expalins that when we block a user we have no way of telling what IP they are editting from. There is no such thing as a whitelist for IP addresses. If you need to request an unblock you need to give details of the block message before anyone can do anything. You could also take more proactive action by attempting to contact your ISP an complaining about the few who do vandalism spoiling it for others, see if they are willing to help take action to prevent future problems. --pgk^(talk) 18:01, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
