This IP address, 155.232.250.19, is registered to the Tertiary Education Network and is shared by multiple users. Comments left on this page may be received by other users of this IP and appear to be irrelevant. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking. In the event of vandalism from this address, efforts will be made to contact the Tertiary Education Network to report abuse.

If you are an unregistered user operating from this address, note that this need not necessarily be the IP address of your machine. In many cases, it turns out to be the IP address of a proxy server that communicates between your browser and the Wikimedia servers. Such proxies are shared among a huge number of users compared to the number of persons using your particular machine. If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself.

Please get yourself a User Id. It is very difficult to talk to people who contribute from different IP addresses.

You may reply to comments in Talk:Teletraffic Engineering, if you wish.

[edit] Amina Wadud

I know this IP is shared so this is to the user whom editted Amina Wadud on 09:52, 23 September 2005. It is fine that you added the Sunni Path view... it is notable. However it is not fine to remove her from category Muslims, which I assume you did because you don't view her has one. She is a Muslim because she calls herself one. Your views have no meaning in this so do not editor because of what you believe. I am now supposing that you know this is a rule and therefore it will not happen again. Please, read WP:NPOV gren グレン 17:51, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Please notify school administration/IT department

For other users of this IP address, please contact your school's administration/IT/network department and inform them that fellow schoolmates have been abusing their internet priveleges by using school resources to vandalize and corrupt online content. We can only do so much on our end and need coperation from your school in order to reduce more such instances of abuse of internet priveleges. Thank you. --LifeStar 19:44, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. This IP address is one of a set of (IIRC three) caching proxies used by the Tertiary Education Network (whois info at [2]), an organisation which provides Internet connectivity to virtually all the universities and colleges in South Africa - at the time of writing, 52 different institutions (list at [3]). This proxy could theoretically be used by any student from any of those institutions. Much as I support any attempt to find and discipline anyone who commits an act of vandalism, I suspect that the scale (and the layers of bureaucracy involved) would make such a task impossible. (For an idea of the scale, we are talking about multiple universities with more than 20 000 students each.) htonl 20:10, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
I can second that and have sent an email to Tim Starling (in connectio with the XFF project) in the hopes that the TENET proxies will be whitelisted. - Phorque 08:53, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Syriac genocide

  1. Please do not mark my change as vandalism. I changed it back as the article is under dispute and it is being seen as POV. Please take comments to the articles talk page. -Localzuk (talk) 12:08, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
  2. Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Syriac Genocide. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. -Localzuk (talk) 10:51, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
  3. Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to Syriac Genocide, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. -Localzuk (talk) 11:03, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
  4. Please stop reverting on the Syriac Genocide page, any further reverts from this IP will be in violation of WP:3RR and as such will be reported to administrators to prevent disruption. -Localzuk (talk) 11:10, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
  5. Please be reasonable about this. Wikipedia requires that all information have verifiable, neutral references. As it stands, the edits you are making to the Syriac Genocide article are not in compliance with this as they are not providing any references. If you can make the changes and provide a verifiable reference to the facts then that would be excellent. If you can't, then please stop. Regarding you reference to George W Bush and him being president - there are many references within the article that substantiate the claim that he is president. -Localzuk (talk) 11:18, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
  6. Please stop. The onus is on you to provide evidence for any changes you make. Please stop making references to other articles as evidence that your changes are ok. They are not. The Holocaust article has many references regarding its existence and there is also an article dedicated to the fact that it happened is disputed: Holocaust Denial. -Localzuk (talk) 11:25, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
  7. Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Scott Keith. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Banez 11:26, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
You have been temporarily blocked from editing for vandalism of Wikipedia. Please note that page blanking, addition of random text, deliberate misinformation, and repeated and blatant violation of WP:NPOV are considered vandalism. If you wish to make useful contributions, you may come back after the block expires. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 13:42, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
    • Please consider yourself banned from the article Syriac genocide, for 24 hours from time of this message, for violations of the three revert rule. I'm only not blocking this IP outright out of consideration of it being a shared IP address. Alai 14:48, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unblock

{{unblock|Collateral Damage}}

Blocking this IP causes collateral damage. Many legimate South African users on TENET are being blocked because of this. I sent an email to have this IP whitelisted but there's been no action so that's why I'm appealing here. - Phorque 10:49, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

The IP address isn't directly blocked, please read Wikipedia:autoblock for a description of the autoblocker. It expalins that when we block a user we have no way of telling what IP they are editting from. There is no such thing as a whitelist for IP addresses. If you need to request an unblock you need to give details of the block message before anyone can do anything. You could also take more proactive action by attempting to contact your ISP an complaining about the few who do vandalism spoiling it for others, see if they are willing to help take action to prevent future problems. --pgk(talk) 18:01, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
