15,000 BC is the approximate theoretical time for the origin of the Basque people and Haplogroup V (mtDNA) in the Pyrenees region of Europe. The theoretical ancestor has been nicknamed "Velda". See The Seven Daughters of Eve by Bryan Sykes.

15,000 BC is also one of several proposed theoretical times for the entry of human beings into the Americas. These times range from 50,000 BC to 12,000 BC.
