From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

School IP address Attention:

This host, proxy3.dcu.ie, is registered to Dublin City University and may be shared by multiple users of an educational institution. In the case of institutions using proxy servers, this IP address may in fact represent many users at many physical computers.

For this reason a message intended for one person may be received by another. Similarly an innocent user may get blocked for another user's vandalism. If you are editing from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant messages, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. In some cases you may temporarily be unable to create an account due to efforts to fight vandalism, in which case please read our advice on this situation.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider a soft block with the template {{schoolblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

Note: In the event of persistent vandalism, anonymous editing from this IP address may be disabled for up to 6 months at a time while abuse reports may be forwarded to your school administration for investigation in case of long-term abuse by registered users.
This IP has been repeatedly blocked from editing Wikipedia in response to abuse of editing privileges.
Further abuse from this IP may result in an immediate block without further warning.

[edit] 136.206.1.17 is Dublin City University!

136.206.1.17 is one of the proxy IP addresses (proxy3.dcu.ie) from Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland. Just about any edit emanating from DCU will appear with this IP address! (There are three proxies, proxy1, proxy2. proxy3). I discovered this by accident when I forgot to log in, made an edit and saw a revert on the page. The revert log pointed here, but the entries didn't make much sense until I checked the IP. Therefore the comments directed to this IP may be directed at several different people. Please take this into account, as the apparent multiple vandalisms may actually be single intries from many different sources. Jimbo3 13:38, 17 May 2006 (UTC)jimbo3

Hello and welcome to wikipedia. Do you live in Windgap? Because the article really needs fleshing out. How many people live there? What is the main industry? What are the nearby towns. Are there any famous buildings etc?

Also do you know the person who took the photo?

[edit] 2006 Wimbledon

Please stop adding nonsense to Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Owen× 16:17, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

  • Please stop recreating the 2006 Wimbledon article. As you can see, it is not the year 2006 yet. Unless you can verify (using a time machine or similar means) who is going to win the 2006 Wimbledon tournament, it has no place on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball.
Sincerely, Mike Rosoft 17:14, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Maraging Steel (Uses)

I saw that you added fencing foils to the uses of maraging steel. Would you happen to have any sources on the statement that maraging steel fractures are just as dangerous as carbon steel fractures? You mentioned that tests were carried out. Would you happen to have more details? Help would be much appreciated. Regards - Martin

[edit] 'Correcting' signed text

Please do not alter material that has somebody else's signature on it (like this) without their express permission. If it looks incorrect, you can either mention it on their Talk page or suggest a correction after it, but the whole point of a signature is to indicate who wrote what. And in this case, it didn't need correcting. --Calair 14:08, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
