[edit] Adding irrelevancy

I came here to your talk page to say that your addition to Moa was totally irrelevant. But I discovered you have a history of warnings, so let me say that next time I see you acting up I will block you. Hey, it is much more rewarding to be a contributor rather than a wrecker. Cheers. [edit] Blocked for 24 hours - blanking MCI

As you don't take notice of the various polite warnings given to you before I have blocked you for 24 hours. Please use your energies in something positive. ...en passant! 07:18, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

I don't know if it is my place to say anything, or if anything actually needs to be said, but this IP (130.216.191.183) belongs to the University of Auckland in New Zealand. As a University, we have thousands of users connecting to the internet with this IP, ranging from 18 year old undergraduates who still have a high school mentality, to internationally respected Professors and PhD's. From what I can tell, the vast majority of the people here don't really understand how Wikipedia works, and I'm not surprised that vandalism, ill-intended or otherwise, has occured. I would also not be surprised if it happens repeatedly in the future. I guess what I'm trying to say is that please do not assume that it is all the work of one person or even one organisation with an easily managable structure, and please don't block this IP for extended periods of time (24 hours isn't much of a problem, I suppose) because you will also be blocking some rather intellegent and knowledgable individuals. Perhaps there are things the University can do to educate the students and the staff here about what Wikipedia is and how it works. I'm just a student though, and I'm not really sure what can be done. Simon Chui. --130.216.191.183 04:31, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] RNZAF

I'm sorry that the edit was legitimate, however:

  • To the naked eye, it looked like somebody had punched a keyboard and appeared to be gibberish.
  • Wikipedia is not designed just for those in the know. Any article should be able to explain the information it is trying to convey so as not to confuse readers.
  • A small minority of editors and readers on en.wiki are Kiwis. I'd imagine that far fewer than 1 in 100 even know what the RNZAF is or what the acronym stands for.

Feel free to re-add the information, but please include an edit summary next time so as to make it clear that it is intentional and not a test. Lastly, you might want to review WP:AGF before throwing accusations that are violations of the policy themselves. thadius856talk 02:26, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blocking

Its fairly hilarious how often people get angry at and leave messages for this IP, given that almost undoubtedly none of the messages get to the vandals at which they are directed.

Wikipedia, what a great idea, what a fantastic resource, but how disheartening to see that it is populated by the same pack of powertripping idiots as the rest of the internet. I think I'm going to do some vandalism next time I'm on campus. 203.173.210.157 07:54, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Richard Jordan Photo

The photo comes from a site that uses public domain images, so that's not a problem, but I suggest you upload the photo to Wiki servers and then include the photo in the article. --黒雲 user:Qaddosh 00:18, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
