Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions.

Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so, as you are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and edit articles; however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is 128.2.165.38). Logging in does not require any personal details, and there are many other benefits for logging in.

When you edit pages:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such content or editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. For now, if you are stuck, you can click the edit this page tab above, type {{helpme}} in the edit box, and then click Save Page; an experienced Wikipedian will be around shortly to answer any questions you may have. Also feel free to ask a question on my talk page. I will answer your questions as far as I can! Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. --Siva1979Talk to me 05:37, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the #1 song

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits, such as those you made to Hot 100 number-one hits of 2007 (USA), are considered vandalism and immediately reverted. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you. - eo 12:57, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] re:Mims

It is only your personal assessment that Mims the rapper is more "well known" than Mims the city. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have no idea who Mims the rapper is. The page is already a redirect, so there is no reason why it cannot be changed to a disambiguation link. - eo 15:04, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

In addition, even if there is no disambig page, you should not change all the links back to just "Mims" because this creates redirects, which should be avoid where possible. If "(rapper)" is part of the article's title, wikilinks should include proper piping. - eo 15:08, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
It doesn't matter whether you think Mims, Florida is "stupid" or whether you feel people are "stupid" for not knowing who Mims the rapper is. It has to do with proper wikilinking and the way these pages are titled. There is no reason to have the article named "Mims (rapper)" and then have a redirect from "Mims", if all links to the rapper just point to "Mims". If you feel this strongly against a disambiguation page, then talk to an admin and have the "Mims (rapper)" page moved to "Mims". - eo 15:29, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
You're not understanding my point. I dont think every article needs a disambiguation page. Example: There is one singer named Rhianna. Her article is titled "Rihanna". All wikilinks pointing to her article say "Rihanna". Therefore, there is no reason to have an article named "Rihanna (singer)" and have "Rihanna" redirect to it. This causes every link to "Rihanna" to become a redirect, which makes no sense. If you're dead set against a disambig page, have "Mims (rapper)" moved to "Mims". - eo 15:33, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Are you honestly trying to say that Mims the rapper is as widely known on the same scale as Jennifer Lopez? This really isn't difficult to understand. Why would you want to purposely create tons of redirects where they are not needed? - eo 15:40, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
Instead of being insulting, why don't you instead contribute constructively to the discussion on the "Mims" Talk Page and/or submit a request in for the page to be moved appropriately? I'm not interested in going back and forth endlessly for the sake of arguing. - eo 18:30, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
I don't know if you have done it already, but I contacted an admin to move the rapper page to "Mims". Hopefully this will resolve the situation. - eo 23:29, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
You're welcome; it's all good. And if I came across as abrasive then I also apologize for that. Talk to ya later. - eo 02:06, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
