Wikipedia works by consensus, which means compromise is always necessary. If you don't understand that (and that, in chemistry, IUPAC is a good authority), you have no place editing here. Also, please don't vandalise my user talk page. BTW did you notice you spelled it "aluminum" in your message? Thanks --Guinnog 20:09, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- 'Aluminum' is the correct spelling and the one I have always used. IUPAC has no authority over the English language.
- Also, 'compromise' can never create a usable encyclopedia, except in areas over which there is absolutely no dispute. Nokhc Jul 15, 2006
Ah sorry then, my mistake. I thought it was "aluminium" you preferred. IUPAC is a far better authority for the spelling than 'the one I have always used', no offence. In any case, compromise is absolutely essential if we are to build an encyclopedia, and especially on areas where there is variance (which doesn't need to be a 'dispute', that's just your bad attitude in my opinion). Like I said, if you are so strongly against one of the fundamental principles of this project then you really shouldn't be editing here. There is far more useful stuff we could both be getting on with. And, really, please don't vandalise my user talk page again. Thanks --Guinnog 20:24, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
