1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment is a light infantry unit assigned to 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division located at Fort Drum, New York.

The first battlion, 87th Mountain Infantry Regiment, was activated on November 15, 1941 at Fort Lewis, Washington, with Lt Col Onslow S. Rolfe as the commanding officer. This unit was the first American regiment of mountain troops.
