Životice (Havířov)

Životice (Polish: Żywocice, German: Zywotitz) is a village in Karviná District, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. It was a municipality but after the expansion of the city of Havířov created in 1955 it became administratively a part of this city.

It is well-known for most notorious Nazi World War II war crime in Zaolzie area. It was a murder of 36 villagers in and around the village on 6 August 1944. This massacre is known as Tragedia Żywocicka in Polish or Životická tragédie in Czech (Żywocice tragedy).
