Šarkan is a village and municipality in the Nové Zámky District in the Nitra Region of south-west Slovakia.

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1247.

The municipality lies at an altitude of 150metres and covers an area of 13.638 km². It has a population of about 340 people.

The population is roughly 88% Magyar and 12%Slovak.

The village has a small public library and football pitch.
